Injured while leaving office building

Question

Country: United States of America
State: New YorkWhen leaving my office building recently, my jacket caught on a corner of one of the big planters outside, and a big piece of slate from the planter, which was apparently not secured anymore, came off and fell on my foot. I ended up having to go the emergency room that night and get stitches on one of my toes. I have medical insurance, so I think most of it will be covered, but I just want to make sure I get reimbursed for any costs that I do get billed for, the cab ride home from the hospital, etc. I did fill out an accident report for the building, but I would like to know what to say to the building's insurance company when I talk to them about it.

Answer

You may say it was setting there in a way that posed a danger and you hold them responsible--
