Input Converter
Input Converter
a device in the input stage of a system or instrument that converts inputs into signals suitable for subsequent processing, transmission, and recording or for matching the operation of systems with various input-output parameters.
Depending on the physical nature of the signal, the form in which it is presented, and the principle of operation of the source and receiver of the signals, input converters change nonelectrical quantities (for example, pressure, displacement, or temperature) into electrical quantities (current, voltage, or charge) and vice versa; they also convert electrical and nonelectrical quantities into code (for example, digital or positional) and vice versa. The basic requirements for an input converter are maximum accuracy in transmitting the inputs and minimum effect on the operation of compatible systems or apparatus.
