[¦in·tər¦nash·ən·əl ′kōd ‚sig·nəl] (communications) Code adopted by many nations for international communications; it uses combinations of letters in lieu of words, phrases, and sentences; the letters are transmitted by the hoisting of international alphabet flags or by transmitting their dot and dash equivalents in the international Morse code. Also known as international signal code.
