Institute of Automation and Remote Control Technical Cybernetics

a scientific-research institute that works out theoretical control problems. It was founded in 1939 in Moscow as part of the Department of Technical Sciences of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR.

Among the subjects at the institute are problems of automatic control theory, the theory of large systems, problems of pattern recognition, theoretical aspects of learning automata, methods of simulation, development of automatic control systems for various branches of the national economy, fundamental questions in creating new elements and technical facilities for automation and associated reliability problems, and problems in bionics.

The institute coordinates investigations within the country on automatic control problems, carries on a large amount of advisory work, and is actively engaged in international scientific liaison. It offers a postgraduate program. It was awarded the Order of Lenin in 1969.
