Cardiology A device for performing percutaneous mitral valve commisurotomy, a preferred method for treating mitral valve stenosis, as it is non-invasive and allows resumption of full-time employment within 1 wk vs 6-8 wks of recuperation required after an open-heart surgical procedure.
