International Standardization Organization (ISO)

a body which produces international standards for products and processes. The ISO seeks to produce standards which harmonize national standards established by individual countries. In designing products and processes firms must generally meet the QUALITY, performance and safety standards laid down by the ISO if their products and processes are to be acceptable to consumers.
