International Aeronautical Federation

 

an international organization for aviation sports founded in 1905 in Paris, where, as of 1976, its headquarters are also located. As of 1976, the federation comprised aviation sports organizations from more than 60 countries. The USSR has been a member since 1935; it was represented initially by the Central Aviation Club of the USSR and is now represented by the Federation of Aviation Sports of the USSR. The Soviet pilot V. K. Kokkinaki is one of the federation’s honorary presidents.
