Industrial Revolution style Industrial Revolution style (1750–1890)The evolution of this style was based on the production of iron and steel in quantities that could be used as a primary building material. The first iron frame structures were industrial buildings, which evolved into the steel-frame skyscrapers of modern times. The few pioneers of this new style were engineers and not architects. Walls were still made of masonry over a steel skeleton, and the use of large glass skylights was widespread. |
