Iagodin, Gennadii Alekseevich

 

Born June 3, 1927, in the village of Bol’shoi V’ias, Lunino Raion, Penza Oblast. Soviet chemist. Corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (1976). Member of the CPSU since 1948.

Iagodin graduated from the D. I. Mendeleev Moscow Institute of Chemical Engineering in 1950. He subsequently joined the institute’s staff, and in 1973 he was appointed rector. Iagodin’s principal works are devoted to the chemistry and technology of inorganic materials used in the nuclear power industry. Iagodin has studied the kinetics of fast reactions in liquid media, and he discovered the calalytic halogenation of solids. He has also designed industrial extractors.

Iagodin has been awarded the Order of the Red Banner of Labor and various medals.
