Location:6 miles west of Deland, off SR 44; accessible only by private boat or park ferry.
Facilities:Youth group camp area, 12 primitive campsites (tent sites), 6 rusticcabins, bathhouses and showers (for campers only), restrooms (é),picnic area, pavilion, playground, overnight boat slips, canoe andkayak rental, nature trail, visitor center.
Activities:Camping, boating, canoeing/kayaking, fishing, hiking, bicycling, wildlife viewing.
Special Features:Snails gathered from the shallows of the Saint Johns River were astaple food of the Timucuan Indians who first inhabited this island.Through the years, the discarded shells of the snails accumulated toform large mounds on the island, one of which can be viewed from thepark's nature trail.
