Hematogen

a medicinal preparation made from defibrinated blood of slaughtered stock with the addition of sugar syrup and ethyl spirits. It is used for anemia, exhaustion, and malnutrition. Children’s hematogen, manufactured in tablet form, contains dried blood, ascorbic acid, sugar, molasses, honey, and evaporated milk.
