IL3

A gene on chromosome 5q31.1 that encodes interleukin-3, a potent growth-promoting cytokine which supports the proliferation of a broad range of haematopoietic cell types. It is involved in an array of cell activities, including cell growth, differentiation and apoptosis. IL-3 also possess neurotrophic activity, and may be linked to neurologic disorders.
