A gene on chromosome 10p15-p14 that encodes the alpha subunit of interleukin-2 (IL-2) receptor, which forms either a heterodimer with the beta subunit, resulting in a receptor with intermediate-affinity for IL-2, or a heterotrimer with beta and gamma subunits, resulting in a high-affinity IL-2 receptor.

Genetic variations in IL2RA are associated with susceptibility to diabetes mellitus insulin-dependent type 10.
