IL12A

IL12A

A gene on chromosome 3p12-q13.2 that encodes interleukin-12A, a cytokine which acts on T and natural killer cells and has a broad array of biological activities; it is required for the T-cell-independent induction of interferon-gamma, and is important for Th1 and Th2 cell differentiation. IL12A acts as a growth factor for activated T and NK cells and enhances the lytic activity of NK/lymphokine-activated killer cells.
