Special Features:Indian King Tavern was the site of two important meetings of the NewJersey Assembly. At the first meeting, on March 10, 1777, the Assemblyapproved the adoption of the Great Seal of New Jersey. Six monthslater, the Assembly met again at the tavern and enacted a lawsubstituting the word "state" for "colony" in all commissions, writs,and indictments.
