A form of nonspecific urethritis caused by local irritation due to prolonged, frequent, recent or first-time sexual activity in women with a low baseline of sexual traffic; damage to the vesicovaginal wall may evoke cystitis, haematuria, dysuria, increased frequency and urgency
Management While, urine specimens are often culture-negative, honeymoon cystitis may respond to antibiotics and copious cranberry juice; resolution may be hastened by a rest period (abstinence from sex)
