[′hē‚liks ‚tüb] (electronics) A traveling-wave tube in which the electromagnetic wave travels along a wire wound in a spiral about the path of the beam, so that the wave travels along the tube at a velocity approximately equal to the beam velocity. Also known as helical traveling-wave tube.
