Ikat a mountain range in Transbaikalia. Elevations, 1, 8002,000 m; maximum, 2,573 m. The range is more than 200 km long and is composed primarily of metamorphic schists and granites; flat peaks are typical. On the lower part of the slopes is mountain forest-steppe (up to 800–900 m on the western slope), higher is larch taiga (up to 1,200 m on the northern slopes and up to 1,700 m on the southern slopes), and yet higher are thickets of dwarf cedar pine and mountain tundra. |
