Houskeeper seal

[′hau̇s‚kēp·ər ‚sēl] (engineering) A vacuum-tight seal made between copper and glass by bringing the copper to a flexible feather edge before fusing it to the glass; the copper then flexes as the glass shrinks during cooling.
