grid blocking

grid blocking

[′grid ‚bläk·iŋ] (electronics) Method of keying a circuit by applying negative grid bias several times cutoff value to the grid of a tube during key-up conditions; when the key is down, the blocking bias is removed and normal current flows through the keyed circuit. Blocking of capacitance-coupled stages in an amplifier caused by the accumulation of charge on the coupling capacitors due to grid current passed during the reception of excessive signals.
