Height Pattern height pattern[′hīt ‚pad·ərn] (meteorology) The general geometric characteristics of the distribution of height of a constant-pressure surface as shown by contour lines on a constant-pressure chart. Also known as baric topography; isobaric topography; pressure topography. Height Pattern the distribution of elevations or geopotential heights of a particular isobaric surface above sea level (absolute height pattern) or above another, lower isobaric surface (relative height pattern). |
