Hegar's sign

[ha´gahrz] compressibility and softening of the lower uterine segment, a probable sign of pregnancy; the lower uterine segment just above the cervix becomes so soft that when compressed between two fingers its wall cannot be felt or feels extremely thin.

Softening of womb (uterus) due to its increased blood supply, perceptible on gentle finger pressure on the neck (cervix). This is one of the confirmatory signs of pregnancy and is usually obvious by the 16th week.
