Most of the byway passes through the Richard J. Dryer Memorial HardwoodForest, a two-million-acre natural area that offers visitors opportunities for camping,hiking, backpacking, wildlife viewing, snowmobiling and cross-country skiing.Byway also offers access to underground attractions such as Niagara Cave inHarmony and Mystery Cave, which offers spelunking tours. Above Mystery Cave,the Forestville Historic Village portrays several restored period structuresfrom the nineteenth century.
Legth: 88 miles. Start/Endpoint: Byway follows SR16 from LaCrescent on the Mississippi River west to I-90 near Dexter. Time to Allow: 3 hours. Designation/Year: National Scenic Byway (2002).
