A rare syndrome resulting from injury to the ulnar artery in the palm, marked by pain, numbness, blanching of fingers, and spasms of the finger muscles supplied by the ulnar artery and its branches. It usually occurs in persons who use the ulnar side of the palm for hammering, pounding, or chopping. Aneurysms of the ulnar artery are often present; they can be repaired surgically.
