Hachioji a city in Japan, on the island of Honshu, in Tokyo Prefecture. Population, 302,000 (1974). Hachioji is a suburb of Tokyo where many of its inhabitants work. It is a center of the textile industry; of particular importance are the spinning and weaving of silk. The city also manufactures electrical machinery, wood products, and chemical products. |
