Hugoniot Equation

an equation that links the density and pressure in a stream of gas before a shock with the density and pressure after the shock. It is applied in gas dynamics for calculating gas flows, as well as in detonation theory. It is named after the French scientist P. H. Hugoniot. The curve that expresses Hugoniot’s equation is called the Hugoniot curve.
