Hough, Jerry F.

(1935– ) political scientist; born in Salina, Kans. Teaching at the University of Illinois: Urbana (1961–68), the University of Toronto (1968–73), and Duke University (1973), he was named a staff member of the Brookings Institute (1979) and director of Investment & Communication at Duke's Center on East-West Trade (1987). His research focused mainly on Eastern European governments and their transition in the latter part of the 20th century. His books on this theme include Soviet Leadership in Transition (1980) and The Polish Crisis: American Policy Options (1982).
