basal like breast carcinoma
basal like breast carcinoma
A poorly differentiated carcinoma associated with BRCA1 mutations, characterised by primitive basaloid type cells with frequent mitoses, abundant necrosis, and rimmed by an in situ component that colonises lobules. The neoplastic cells have fairly fine chromatin, but nucleoli are present and nuclear moulding is not prominent.Behaviour
Basal-like breast carcinoma is characterised by haematogenous (i.e., lung and brain) metastasis, but not nodal spread.
