Gvozdkov, Prokofii Zakharovich
Born July 7 (20), 1903, on the khutor (privately owned farmstead) of Krasnokorotkovskii, present-day Novoanninskii Raion, Volgograd Oblast. Active in the kolkhoz movement. Twice Hero of Socialist Labor (1948 and 1958). Member of the CPSU since 1930.
From 1928 to 1930, Gvozdkov was chairman of a partnership for communal land cultivation, from 1930 to 1935 chairman of a rural soviet, and from 1936 to 1938 chairman of the Voroshilov Kolkhoz. From 1938 to 1958 he was director of the Deminskii Support and Demonstration Machine Tractor Station, from 1958 to 1961 chairman of the consolidated Deminskii Kolkhoz in Novoanninskii Raion, Volgograd Oblast, and from 1961 to 1963 director of the Vil’iams Sovkhoz in the same raion. Under Gvozdkov’s management the farm achieved high levels in the harvest yield of grain, sunflowers, and other agricultural crops, as well as in the output of meat, milk, and other products of animal husbandry. He has been an individual pensioner since 1964. Gvozdkov was awarded the Order of Lenin and medals of the USSR and the All-Union Agricultural Exhibition.
