Hinojosa Y Naveros, Eduardo De

 

Born Nov. 10, 1852, in Alhama; died May 19, 1919, in Madrid. Spanish historian, member of Royal Academy of History (1889), Royal Spanish Academy (1904), and Royal Academy of Moral and Political Sciences (1907).

Hinojosa y Naveros began his scholarly research with works on the archaeology of Spain during the Roman and Visigothic periods. Later, he studied Roman law and taught it at the University of Madrid. His work was influenced by T. Mommsen and N. D. Fustel de Coulanges. After the turn of the century, he concentrated largely on the social history of medieval Spain, especially Catalonia.
