Ibn Khurdadhbih, Abu Al-Kasim Ubaydallah Ibn Abdallah
Born circa 820 (according to some sources, 826); died 912 or 913 (according to some sources, 885). Arab geographer; a Persian by birth.
Ibn Khurdadhbih’s Book of Roads and Kingdoms is the first geographical work of a descriptive nature in Arabic to have come down to us. An important source for the history of the Caliphate and contiguous countries, it also contains mentions of the Slavs and the Rus.
