α-a·mi·no·a·dip·ic ac·id (Aad),

(ă-mē'nō-ă-dip'ik as'id), An intermediate of lysine biosynthesis in higher fungi and bacteria, but not in algae and higher plants. Also found in the degradation of lysine in mammals.
