alpha-adrenergic agonist 

An agent that selectively binds and activates alpha-adrenergic receptors. In the eye it causes mydriasis and reduces the production of aqueous humour. It is used topically in the treatment of glaucoma. Common agents include adrenaline (epinephrine), noradrenaline (norepinephrine), apraclonidine and brimonidine tartrate.
