Gurzuf

an urban-type settlement in Crimea Oblast, Ukrainian SSR. It is situated on the southern shore of the Black Sea near the city of Aiudag (Medved’-gora), 16 km northeast of Yalta. It is a seaside climate health resort. The winter is mild (average February temperature, 2° C) and the summer very warm (average June temperature, 23° C). The average yearly precipitation is 565 mm. The resort treats persons sick with nontubercular respiratory ailments, as well as ailments of the nervous and cardiovascular systems. There are both sanatoriums and rest homes. The swimming season lasts from June to October. The Artek Pioneer Camp is near Gurzuf.
