Herschel-Quincke tube Herschel-Quincke tube[¦hər·shəl ′kwiŋ·kə ‚tüb] (acoustics) A device for demonstrating the interference of sound in which sound waves from a common source travel through two tubes of different lengths and recombine, producing reinforcement or cancellation of sound depending on the difference in path length; used to demonstrate the interference of sound and as a wave filter.
