Health & Social Care Information Centre
A special health authority created in the UK in 2005, which co-ordinates and streamlines collecting and sharing of health and adult social care data. The Centre shouldered some of the data-related functions of the former NHS Information Authority, and some statistics and information management functions of the Department of Health including social care. It is tasked with:(1) Increasing information accessibility;
(2) Reducing the burden of information acquisition;
(3) Strengthening the capacity for informed decision making.
