(also Jabal al-Shaykh), a mountain massif in Syria and Lebanon, forming the distinct southern extension of the Anti-Lebanon Mountains. The massif measures approximately 40 km in length and rises to a maximum elevation of 2,814 m at Mount al- Shaykh, the highest point in the Anti-Lebanon and Syria. It is composed primarily of limestones and sandstones. Vegetation includes subtropical shrubs and forests.
