Harmonized Tariff ScheduleThe classification of tariffs for goods and services imported by the United States. For example, in 2010, the schedule stated that live chickens weighing less than 186 grams were subject to a 0.9 cent duty upon entry. The numeric codes for goods and services upon which the Schedule is based come from the Harmonized Code, which is a global nomenclature system for goods and services that countries import and export. The Harmonized Tariff Schedule went into effect in 1989.AcronymsSeeHTS |
