Health Development Agency

Health Development Agency

A special UK health authority established in 2000 to develop the evidence base to improve health and reduce health inequalities between the rich and those living in poverty. It worked in partnership with professionals and practitioners across a range of sectors to translate that evidence into practice. The HDA’s functions were transferred to the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) in 2005 on the heels of the UK Department of Health's 2004 review of its "arm’s length bodies".
