Grant's Bluegrass Festival Grant's (Bill) Bluegrass FestivalEarly AugustThe oldest and largest bluegrass festival west of the Mississippi is held for five days near Hugo, Okla. The festival began in 1969, organized by Bill Grant as an extension of jam sessions in his home. Attendance the first year was less than 1,000; now more than 20,000 show up. There are band and instrument contests for all ages, non-stop entertainment from 10 a.m. until midnight each day, and jam sessions at all hours.
