Gulian, Constantin Ionescu
Born Apr. 22, 1914, in Bucharest. Rumanian Marxist philosopher. Member of the Academy of the Socialist Republic of Rumania.
Gulian is the author of works on questions of ethics, the theory of culture, and the history of philosophy. In his work Introduction to a New Ethics (1946), he examines the norms of conduct of man in the new society and investigates the dialectic of freedom and necessity, as well as the question of the social and historical basis of ethical values. Gulian’s work The Method and System of Hegel (vols. 1–2, 1957–63; Russian translation, vols. 1–2, 1962–63) is devoted to an analysis of the philosophy of Hegel and the German ideology of his time.
