Fourneyron, Benoît
Born 1802 in Saint-Etienne; died July 8, 1867, in Paris. French engineer.
In 1819, Fourneyron began working at the mines at Le Creusot. He designed a radial hydraulic turbine (French patent, 1832) and in 1836 established a turbine factory. Fourneyron was also known as a political figure; in 1848, after the revolution, he was elected to the Constituent Assembly.
