Ilkuri Mountains

 

(also Ilkhuri Alin), a spur of the Greater Khingan Mountains in northeast China. Stretching for about 200 km and rising to an elevation of 1,290 m, it is primarily composed of gneiss, granite, and young effusive rock. A belt of broken rock lines the foot of its northern and southern slopes. Birch and oak forests cover the southern slopes, while larch taiga growing on frozen soils is characteristic of the north.
