Guinea Current[′gin·ē ¦kə·rənt] (oceanography) A current flowing eastward along the southern coast of northwestern Africa into the Gulf of Guinea. Guinea Current a warm current of the Atlantic Ocean in the northern part of the Gulf of Guinea. In the summer it joins the Trade Wind (Equatorial) Countercurrent. The average annual water temperature is 26°-27° C, the salinity is 34.5-35.0 parts per thousand, and the velocity is more than 3 km/hr. |
