Grain Carrier
Grain Carrier
a motor vehicle, semitrailer, or trailer equipped with a body for transporting bulk grain. The body of the carrier is a cylinder or bin made of steel or aluminum alloy. The grain is loaded from above, through hatches or a movable cover. Some grain carriers are equipped with self-loading systems that create a vacuum inside the carrying area. Grain carriers are usually unloaded by pneumatic devices that deliver grain to storage spaces at elevations up to 20 m. The loading and unloading devices are driven by the vehicle (prime mover) engine or a self-contained engine. Some grain carriers are equipped with vibrators to make unloading easier. Grain carriers have capacities of up to 30 tons.
