Herb, Raymond G. (George)

(1908– ) physicist; born in Navarino, Wis. He designed and developed high-voltage proton accelerators while teaching at the University of Wisconsin: Madison (1935–72). He founded the National Electrostatic Corporation (1965) to manufacture his revolutionary pelletron accelerators, and resigned from academia to devote full-time service to his business (1972).
