Immunodiagnostics

a branch of practical immunology concerned with diagnosing infectious diseases by means of serological reactions (bacteriolysis, agglutination, precipitation) and allergic tests. Serological reactions are also used to identify blood groups and, in forensic medicine, to ascertain whether a particular blood sample belongs to a human being or to some species of animal.

Immunodiagnostics is used in veterinary medicine to diagnose many infectious diseases and to detect sick animals and microbe carriers. Systematic immunodiagnosis is carried out to detect tuberculosis, brucellosis, and glanders.
