the traditional British country sport which is now a criminal offence in many circumstances under legislation in both legal systems of the UK, particularly where dogs are involved. In England, hunting with dogs is an offence unless it is exempt. It is an offence to assist a hunt by allowing use of one's land or dogs. Hare coursing or permitting hare coursing is also an offence. The legislation in Scotland has similar aims but the details are different.
