Grabar, Oleg

(1929– ) art historian; born in Strasbourg, France. He emigrated to America (1948) and studied at Harvard (B.A. 1950), the University of Paris (1950), and Princeton University (Ph.D. 1955). He taught at the University of Michigan (1954–69) and at Harvard (1969), and is known for his critical works on Islamic art and archaeology.
