high-pressure fuel system

high-pressure fuel system

That part of the aircraft's overall fuel system that starts after the entry of fuel into the engine. An HP pump (high-pressure pump) takes fuel from the low-pressure, or aircraft, fuel system and raises its pressure sufficiently to ensure an efficient burner operation. It consists of HP fuel pump(s) and the fuel control unit that determines the quantum of fuel going into the engine, a system of combustion, and an afterburner system, if any. Also known as an engine fuel system
